Comic Serif

A good friend of mine once proclaimed that he would one day release Comic Serif to the world. After years of holding my breath, it looks like type designer Hannes von Döhren beat him to it. HDV Comic Serif was originally released in 2007 but is now available in an OpenType ”Pro” version. Don’t worry, it’s still free.

I saw this a while ago.
This shouldn’t be called Comic Serif – it’s an entirely different typeface. He dropped the ball.
That might explain my strange attraction to this typeface. I think your (yet to be released) version stays much truer to Comic Sans.
I’ve loved this font for so long
[...] I once seen an article on how the comic sans font was degrading, how it was unprofessional and a whole bunch of mean things. I used to use this font when sending emails on Wall St. It just was so cool to me but I knew it was wrong, lol. Now the sans has become a Serif and it make it a little better. And it’s STILL free.
