Mission One Motorcycle by Yves Behar

Unveiled at TED 2009, the Mission One EV Motorcycle was designed as a collaboration between designer Yves Béhar of fuseproject, and Forrest North, CEO of Mission Motors.
The motorcycle is significant in that it’s 100% electric and has a top speed of 150mph with a range of 150 miles. Not to mention it looks like sex on two wheels.
“This project was a dream come true: a statement about how design can make performance and sustainability come together without compromise,” said Yves Béhar. “I believe Mission is an icon for a new era of efficient and exciting vehicles. Designed to express speed and efficiency in it’s overall sharp lines, the Mission bike is also highly detailed with special attention to a riders needs, bringing a high level of product design and ergonomics to a new generation of performance transportation.”
This bike’s is remarkable in that it dwarfs any electric bike on the market both in speed and range, making it much more usable to the average person. See more information and photos after the jump.
This is the first project for Mission Motors, and if they can sell these things, there’s sure to be more exciting projects on the horizon. Why ‘if’ you ask?
Mission Motors is taking $5,000 deposits on bikes which have a starting price just under $69,000. That’s not exactly cheap, making this sort of the Tesla Roadster of the sport bike world. As with the Tesla and other early electric vehicles, early models are expensive but tend to lead to cheaper, more mainstream products down the road. I look forward to seeing what else Mission has up its sleeve.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW I would consider riding a bike if this could be mine. DEFINITELY sex on two wheels.
Hi, interesting topic – I have just bought an electric bike that I use to get to work everyday. I Just plug in at work to recharge it and then cycle home.
Absolutely love the bike, it was cheap and simple to use. I got it from http://www.elecbikeco.com they seemed good but I am sure there are many other companies out there too.
Good luck
