So you think you can tell Arial from Helvetica? Ironic Sans has put together a little logo quiz – taking Helvetica-based logos and replacing it with Arial. Can you tell the difference?

I got 19/20. See how good you are at: www.ironicsans.com/helvarialquiz.

As if to further cement my burning love for Insound, they bring me this…The Insound 10 Classic is a visual narrative of 20 years (1977-1997) of punk, new wave and indie rock, designed by my favorite personal badass, Mike Perry. All designs are limited edition, and posters are signed and numbered by Mike. Honestly, I want to scoop up all of these before they’re gone.

*and yeah, I know, the images are all misaligned, sorry. all their images are different sizes, awesome!

Daily Drop Cap by Jessica HischeDaily Drop Cap by Jessica HischeDaily Drop Cap by Jessica Hische

The Daily Drop Cap is an ongoing project by typographer and illustrator Jessica Hische. Each day (or at least each WORK day), a new hand-crafted decorative initial cap will be posted for your enjoyment and for the beautification of blog posts everywhere.

Jessica Hische makes amazing work. Check out her portfolio (which makes me feel like a talentless loser) at www.jhische.com.

How to help protect yourself from strangers. Just in case you were unaware.

These sweater-style sneakers are hand-knit and SO CUTE. They start with a brand new pair of Chuck Taylors and the sweater material is hand stitched onto the sole. Once I become un-broke I might just need a pair. Wow. Check out the rest or purchase some from Pretty Sneaky, on etsy.

But also, the poster, of course changes, depending on how you view it, and what you view through it, as these images will attest.

I love the idea of hanging a poster in front of a window, too. What a great concept and amazing execution. View more of her posters and other works here.

Musica Packaging

Lovely Packaging shared these brilliant ‘rockstar’ packages designed by The Jupiter Drawing Room for Musica.

As music retailers face increasing pressure to find alternative revenue streams beyond the sales of CDs and DVDs, the opportunities have to lie in lifestyle products. Inside of everyone of us is an alter-ego who secretly wants to be a rock star, pop icon or jazz supremo. This was identified by The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) with our latest range of work executed for client Musica.
Conceptualised, illustrated and designed by the Design department of Jupiter; the packaging, in-store product stand as well as the writing of the copy communicates the in-your-face, anti-establishment rebelliousness of Rock music. And lets the user believe just for a moment they really could be a rock icon.

I don’t normally post a huge number of photos, but these are excellent… too good not to post. See them all after the jump.

mysteries-after-dark-flier

Here at TDP, we’ve decided to include some content and updates about our friends at the Cleveland Museum of Art—who (congrats!) recently re-opened the renovated east wing of the museum. I’ve been going back and forth with their marketing intern, who has offered to keep me posted about their goings-on. This Friday, they’re having a murder-mystery themed college night, and it’s only 8 bucks with a college ID. Not bad, eh? Sounds like a good time, and you’ll get to see the beautiful renovation and new collections. I’ll be there, so come see me. If not, I’ll be posting about it next week.
