Some of the most beautiful brooches, bracelets and rings I’ve seen in a long time from artist Maria Cristina Bellucci. The first is my favorite, a brooch with such gorgeous cool colors. Is Christmas already over? I’d like to add this to my birthday list then! :) View more of her pieces here.

These guys love their Macs — “I’m on a Mac” video parody by switchtomac.com.
This is a spoof of “I’m on a boat” from Saturday Night Live.

Got this lovely gem for Christmas. Tycho (Scott Hansen, known in the design world as ISO50) recently released his third single, Coastal Brake. The song is glittery, warm and smooth, and the album comes with that tasty poster pictured above (it unfolds from that size). If you’re a fan of his print work and music, it’s a must-have. Delicious. Read TDP’s post on ISO50 here.
Did any of you get anything neat this year? Design books? Gadgets? Tools?

The holidays are busy. Most of your TDP contributors will be checking in randomly throughout the two upcoming holidays, but if you’re ever in the need for more or are bored out of your mind at your in-laws, take a walk down memory lane with the Random Post generator on our sidebar. It’ll bring you to posts you forgot about, have never seen or just don’t remember! It’s to keep TDP in your hearts this holiday season even if we’re too busy to give you anything new. ;) Happy Holidays!

There are very few times I can say an idea is beautiful, Shree Nayar’s BigShot concept is one of them. The idea looks at how simple engineering and science concepts can be taught to young children (8–14 years old) by building a simple digital camera. In addition to the engineering/science aspect, once the camera is built, the kids learn how to be creative when behind a camera. The quality of the images isn’t perfect, but that is not the point, it is the social aspect of how the children use the camera. This is a fascinating idea and I would love to see this means of teaching be applied to other parts of education.
