Art Chantry is coming to Cleveland to speak! AIGA Cleveland’s Fall Kickoff Event Art Speaks, Posters Yell! is scheduled for next week September 24, 6–9pm at Windows on the River. As an AIGA Cleveland board member, I’ll be there, and I hope to see you there too!
Rock poster legend Art Chantry’s works are gritty, inventive and sometimes startling. For Chantry, poster design is folk art and his approach: low-tech. Chantry is known for subculture posters and album covers he designed for Nirvana, Hole and The Sonics which rivals the world’s best graphic design. But he is equally admired for his compelling logo design, and his creative talent has been pursued by corporations such as Nike, Microsoft and Coca-Cola. You’ll want to hear what this iconic graphic designer has to say about delivering a loud, memorable, visual message.
AIGA Cleveland is also partnering with ZeroLandfill to collect your old Pantone books, paper samples and extra art supplies at the door for recycling to help lower the burden on local landfills. Bring your extra stuff! See more information about ZeroLandfill at www.zerolandfill.net.
Mad props to Mike Burton of Little Jacket for the killer poster design!
