Design wise, the architecture firm’s chief goal was not to muddle the site with new architecture–but rather, to let the immensity of the site serve as a dramatic, natural testament to the events.

The memorial pool is very cool, but I just don’t understand the museum. Why a museum- is that really necessary? And we already have the images permanently engraved in our mind- who would want to go to a museum to look at them some more? They could place some of these artifacts like the trident in the future Freedom Tower- why build an entire museum? The main focus of all of this should be as a memorial to those who died, which the pool nicely accomplishes. The museum just seems excessive.
