Urbanized Typeface: Shibuya08-09

Takahiro Yamaguchi released this video on Vimeo last week detailing his process and execution of a new typeface called Shibuya08-09. Unlike Chicago or other typefaces named after cities, Shibuya08-09 has a direct reference to the city it is named after.

Yamaguchi created each character by bicycling across his city. using his GPS to track his location and topography. This data was then used directly in a font-creation program to create his typeface. Watch his video above and check his site for the complete description.
