The immediacy, accessibility, and deliberacy of Walt Whitman’s poetry is something that anyone who designs communication could look to for inspiration.

Wilson Miner – When We Build
About a month ago, I discovered this collection of videos from the 2011 Build Conference. Speakers include Jason Santa Maria, Jessica Hische and Josh Brewer. Needless to say, they’re all I’ve watched lately.
Of all of the amazing presentations, Wilson Miner’s stood out the most. If you’re interested in emerging technology and it’s impact on design (you should be), you’ll love this video.
Try not to tear up. Enjoy!
By the way, I’m Eric.
Ralph McQuarrie
A little over a week ago, a man died whose name you may have never heard, but whose work you would recognize instantly (and probably from a very young age).

God from the Machine

I’ve never owned a motorcycle, but I certainly wouldn’t rule it out after seeing the beautifully hand-crafted work of Deus Ex Machina (pronounced “day-us ex mack-ena”).
To put it into context, Deus are to motorcycles as Best Made Company are to axes.
Getting their start in 2006, Deus has since developed a great brand and timeless culture, celebrating creativity and individualism. Not only do they build amazing motorcycles, they also have their hand in surfboards, bicycles, clothing and prints as well. Do your self a favor and visit their site — you won’t be disappointed. View their site and in its entirety here.
Music Monday: Grimes – Oblivion
Happy Monday afternoon. Grimes dropped this video sometime last week. It’s pretty fantastic. You should watch it.
