TMN-CanWeDate-1

I stumbled across this yesterday and wished my friends and I had this chart in high school. It may have prevented a number of social headaches.

…there are, as I reckon, about three levels of relations that should be considered when deciding who you can date: “personal,” “professional,” and “other.” Of course a lot of that “other” is going to be concerned with instances, like, say you’re at a kegger and you meet a Japanese foreign exchange student and you’re both really drunk.

Check out the full sized chart and the hilarious article at The Morning News.

First look at the 9/11 Museum at Ground Zero.

Design wise, the architecture firm’s chief goal was not to muddle the site with new architecture–but rather, to let the immensity of the site serve as a dramatic, natural testament to the events.

Sahre Victore Wilker 2010Sahre Victore Wilker 2010

Sahre, Victore, Wilker is an annual gathering, freed of any commercial restraints or institutional ties, where experimentation and creative thought rule. For six intensive days, participants from around the world collaborate to reconsider their working processes and to push their ideas.

This year, there will be two separate workshops. Each workshop is a one-week, self-contained program in New York City.

Dates:
Mon, July 19 – Sat, July 24 &
Mon, Aug 9 – Sat, Aug 14.

Cost:
$1,200 for one workshop
$2,200 for both workshops

We posted about SVW 2009 last year and SVW kindly emailed us to remind us to post this year. A workshop with just one of these designers would be awesome… having all three (Paul Sahre, James Victore and Jan Wilker) there is amazing.

After seeing Paul Sahre speak last week, I wish I had the cash to go.

UI Stencils - iPhone stencilUI Stencils - iPad stencil and drawing padUI Stencils - Web site stencil

@BrianBuirge sent me these really cool User Interface stencils for the iPhone, iPad and Web. Made by UI Stencils, these stencils allow you to sketch accurate user interface details while laying out your applications/sites on paper.

UI Stencils also makes corresponding sketch pads to be used with or without their stencils. The sketch pads are totally cool in their own right.

I’ve become addicted to the site Fishs Eddy where all your dining dreams come true! Their vast collection of designed dishes, flatware, accessories and beyond would make any dinner filled with unique style. I especially love the Guest Check Tray, the first one shown above. It’ll be on my birthday wish list for sure! See more and buy your own sets on their site here.

This is a great video of showing the process and research of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic brand. The video also features comments from the late Leo Obstbaum, who was the design director of the project.

See our post on the Vancouver Olympic Medals which eventually was born from the design process in this video.

Alexandra gave us a shout-out to tell us about her new site, Blue Carrot Shop! She is a treasure hunter at heart and Blue Carrot Shop is where she can share her wares with the world. She says it best:

My name is Alexandra, and I am a Graphic Designer by trade and a treasure hunter by preference. I am very good at finding things. Neat things, old things, used things, unique things, things that have been cast aside and things that are well-loved. I love looking for — and at — such things. I decided to start Blue Carrot Shop as a home for these things. Or at least (I’m hoping) a temporary home, a gathering place for wayward items — a stop on the journey to becoming a part of your home.
I can’t keep everything I find (trust me, I wish I could) and I make a habit of only finding things I want very much to keep. I hope you will feel the same way. Look around, and if you don’t see what you’re looking for, let me know — I’ll keep my eyes open for almost anything (unless it’s painted on velvet or shellacked onto a log slice).

The relics on the site are a great slice of Americana, and would serve as amazing inspiration for any creative space (especially those pieces with old sexy type on them). I call first dibs on any old typewriters!

This is a short documentary that looks at the idea that nothing is every completely finished, and is always in a “beta.” Take a few minutes and check it out.
