Chirstoph Niemann’s opinion column on the New York Times was recently updated and they nearly knocked me out of my chair. His simple visuals that marry great ideas with something we are familiar with are a great recipe for success. Definitely check out his work.

I don’t know about you, but hours of entertainment can be found in the “missed connections” section of Craigslist. Sophie Blackall, illustrator residing in Brooklyn, NY saw them as a never ending source of material. Brilliant.

Check out her blog with the illustrations, her etsy shop to purchase, and her website to see her other work. Happy hunting!

Really amazing 82×27″ prints from Density Design illustrating a Map of the Future. The five parts collectively make one poster, shown above, and development and data came from sources all over the globe.

The italian magazine WIRED asked us to draw a map based on the scenarios developed by the Institute for the Future in Palo Alto to help the reader in the net of ideas and hypothesis built by 7000 influencers from all over the world.

See more of the prints in detail, here.

bafta-awards-tavis-coburn-2bafta-awards-tavis-coburn-4bafta-awards-tavis-coburn-3Fantastically bright and strikingly beautiful posters from Tavis Coburn for the BAFTA’s, or the British Academy Film & Television Awards. I love how much color and drama they have and immediately catch my attention online; I can only imagine how great they’d be in person. Tavis’s other work is also just as equally striking and you can see more of it here. I’m really hoping he puts one of these up in his shop soon!

mi_060Birds20RoyalMail12GiveMeFive0Amazing illustration work from Leandro Castelao. His projects remind me so much of an exercise we did in school using basic elements and shapes to create forms, except his illustrations far surpass the solutions I came up with! See more of his portfolio of work here.

I’ve become addicted to the site Fishs Eddy where all your dining dreams come true! Their vast collection of designed dishes, flatware, accessories and beyond would make any dinner filled with unique style. I especially love the Guest Check Tray, the first one shown above. It’ll be on my birthday wish list for sure! See more and buy your own sets on their site here.

The Haiti Poster Project

I’ve featured a few t-shirts recently that you can purchase to help the Haiti efforts (here and here), but when I came across The Haiti Poster Project it really hit me that I can help more than just giving money. I can help in the way I know best: design.

Created by the 2005 Hurricane Poster Project and the 2007 So-Cal Fire Poster Project organizers, artists and designers from all over are able to contribute between 25-100 limited edition posters to be sold on the site and  all proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.

Here are the basic details, but for more, visit the project’s site, TheHaitiPosterProject.com.

DEADLINE: May 1st. Submissions will be accepted after this date, but given the timelines of the situation, they strongly encourage designers to meet this deadline.
• 11×17″ minimum, ideal size is 18×24″. Poster can be produced by litho, digital or silk-screen print.
• Posters should be signed and numbered editions in quantities of 25-100.

A couple of us here at The Donut Project will be contributing and we really hope you will too!
