Maxalot Gallery has been active on the modern art scene since late 2003 promoting and presenting young and established digital fine artists in various ways. Maxalot helps these digital artists turn their digital art into tangible art pieces by putting on exhibitions, selling prints, and even wallpapers.

Maxalot’s Exposif wallpapers are printed on Adhesive Synthetic Paper which is thin, light and flexible with a durable, wet-strength base. It delivers accurate colors and vivid results on its high-quality matte surface. These wallpapers feature designs from some of the top digital designers. It’s an excellent way to make a room stand out from the pack.

A majority of the designs work best as accent walls, especially considering the price: starting at $415.00 + $3.50 ft2, these are not cheap. But they appear to be very high quality, have gorgeous design on them, and Maxalot will work with you to make each order fit your space perfectly.

See the entire lineup of Exposif wallpapers here.

Kappa Range Hood

So, you’re a designer, and you love typography… but do you love type this much? Barriviera Cappe makes range hoods and has created ‘Kappa’ – a range hood in the shape of a bold, sans-serif ‘K’ – K for Kitchen?

No word on pricing, but I can’t imagine they are cheap.

Huf Haus WallSomething... WallSchool of Life Wall

I would love to live in Charlotte Mann’s fantasy world. It’s amazing what she does with just a black marker and a blank wall! See more from her at charlottemann.co.uk.

Ink Cartridge Chandelier

Check out this wicked cool chandelier/lamp made out of 8 large printer cartridges! It’s design-nerd to the extreme, but it would look awesome in a studio. This one-of-a-kind will set you back $200.

Buy it from ‘boxlightbox’ on Etsy.

Penny FloorPenny Floor

This sweet Penny Floor featured on Apartment Therapy is pretty amazing. This isn’t the first time it has been done, but it’s one of the nicest examples I’ve seen. The black grout really sets it off. This floor is at The Standard Grill in the Meatpacking District in NYC.

In a Pinch Chair

I have a love/hate relationship with minimal modernist furniture. In general, I love the design of it. However, design should include functionality/comfort and sometimes that is compromised for the cleanest lines. Other times they nail the look, nail the functionality – and sometimes when that happens it’s no longer accessible to regular people, as they can price chairs at thousands of dollars.

So when I saw this chair on BLTD, I wondered that the catch was? It’s a sweet looking chair for the affordable price of $128 and has a strange name. The chair is for sale at Urban Outfitters, and designed by Blu Dot.

My skepticism immediately questions the structural integrity of the chair. $128 isn’t much money for a chair, especially one that only has a couple metal bars preventing the chair from turning me into a human clothespin if it collapses. For those of you who don’t know me personally, I’m a large human being. I’ve snapped legs off of my fair share of those plastic lawn chairs, resulting in me on my ass. Would this chair hold me? How about if I were sitting in it and my (fictional) girlfriend leaped into my masculine arms? Would the chair buckle under the weight and/or lust?

If this chair can stand up to that, it’s a hell of a buy. It’s quite a looker. Buy it here, or I’m guessing you can probably see it at your local Urban Outfitters store.

flavorpaper

In recent years, I’ve developed quite a crush on wallpaper and I’ve always thought it would be fun to design it for a living. Then I discovered Flavor Paper. Having survived Hurricane Katrina, Flavor Paper (located in the Bywater District of New Orleans) continues to produce custom, handscreened wallcoverings (not to mention their own wide array of floral, funky, geometric and traditional designs). Now I’m sure the whole process costs a pretty penny, but when your friends ask you where you got your kick ass wallpaper and you can tell them you designed it, aren’t the bragging rights worth it?

A while back I posted about UO’s Marquee Lights (which at the time were only available in two styles) but I am pleased to report that you can now purchase the whole ALPHABET! (gasp). Wish I could afford a few of these.*

*they’re only around $100 with my discount…hmm…evil things are tempting me…

How could all of us create and do what we do without being comfortable doing it? After I moved this weekend, our drastically smaller studio space caused me to rethink my seating situation. I had a typica high-backed swivel chair (which was great, and free) but it wasn’t right for me and the way I work. After a trip to Ikea on Sunday, I came home with the most PERFECT chair ever.

It’s called Rutger (I affectionately call it Edgar…just because it’s goofy…look at those little arm rests!) and it’s the best $60 I’ve spent in a long time. It raises up high so I can draw at a good height (which is why I used to like a good stool) and its littler seat and compact frame allows it tuck right into my desk when not in use. The back rest hits right at the lower back so you have support and can move about. If you’re looking for the perfect hybrid of stool and swivel chair, I couldn’t recommend this puppy enough.

bookbookshelf

Via Design Observer, this book shelf by not tom is made out of old books. This would make a great DIY project.
