JESS3 designed and animated this for the JESS3 lecture at Stevenson University for AIGA Baltimore in Feb 2010.

The State of the Internet is an infographic video which brings the shear size of the internet into focus. The numbers are staggering. 90 Trillion emails sent last year (90,000,000,000,000), 27 Million Tweets per day, Facebook’s 6 Million page views per minute.

A nice soundtrack and lovely animations make this boring info easy and interesting to digest.

Oh what a tangled web we weave.

UI Stencils - iPhone stencilUI Stencils - iPad stencil and drawing padUI Stencils - Web site stencil

@BrianBuirge sent me these really cool User Interface stencils for the iPhone, iPad and Web. Made by UI Stencils, these stencils allow you to sketch accurate user interface details while laying out your applications/sites on paper.

UI Stencils also makes corresponding sketch pads to be used with or without their stencils. The sketch pads are totally cool in their own right.

Check out all the tasty photos:

Picture 2Picture 1Who wants a boring tiny url when you can have a ShadyURL?? I took the liberty of creating a new one for TDP’s Rick Salsberry. I think you should use this as your main website link, Rick. It’s very catchy. Make your own ShadyURL here.

PaperWheel Press on Etsy has some cool letterpress cards to give to your nerdy friends or loved ones.

Buy these, and other non-dorky cards at PaperWheel’s Etsy shop!

Picture 6Picture 7Picture 8Studio on Fire just launched a new website and it’s fantastic! The letterpress shop has a very well-known blog of their work, Beast Pieces, and now you can find that and all their other work on the new website. Really nicely done. See the site and get some great design inspiration here.

Timeline Twitter Treemap

I came across this interesting widget while looking at NBC’s Olympic coverage. Twitter visualizers and viewing trend changes over time are nothing new. As far as I know this is one of the first times that a Treemap is being used. You can also dial down into sub-levels by clicking the thumbnails.

Total data nerd moment. enjoy.

Fav4.orgFav4.org

Such a good and simple idea — www.Fav4.org is a cool little site where you select your 4 most visited social networking or web app sites and they simply become your starting page or home page.

Once you select from the wide range of sites, just set it as your opening page and/or home page in your browser, and you’re done. Every time you open your browser you’ll be able to go to your most visited places on the internet.

Set yours up at www.fav4.org.

You can also follow them on twitter @fav4dotorg

The AIGA Design ArchivesThe AIGA Design ArchivesThe AIGA Design ArchivesThe AIGA Design Archives

AIGA has released a complete redesign of the AIGA Design Archives site. The site design, by Second Story, has moved away from the previous Flash interface to an easier to use, HTML site.

The new interface is very easy to browse, and sort the thousands of pieces on the site. You can sort by designer, year, geography, topic, AIGA featured collections, discipline, industry, format, color & more. It’s really well done.

They’ve also managed to add ’share’ buttons to share work on all of your favorite social networking sites. The move away from Flash even means this will presumably work on all mobile browsers.

Very well done. See the new site at designarchives.aiga.org.
